TA-65 LENGTHENS TELOMERES IN HUMANS
There have been several research papers that demonstrate how TA-65 can increase telomerase activity. Some of these initial studies entailed treating rodents with TA- 65 and demonstrated that this compound could increase telomerase activity and result in longer telomeres.
But the golden standard continues to be studies done on humans and human cells. [1]
STUDIES WHERE TA-65 ACTIVATES TELOMERASE
In this front there has also been progress. Our own RevGenetics sponsored study showed that human T cells can not only increase the telomerase activity when exposed to TA-65 but also cause the T cells to proliferate more; a great benefit given that the immune system depends heavily on its ability for cellular proliferation.
Other Studies On TA-65
Other TA-65 studies have measured an overall improved fitness in humans based on the increased frequency of “young” versus “old” cell profiles, and changes to a more youthful metabolic profile. Collectively, all of these results are evidence that TA-65 may be supporting overall fitness in humans and possibly delaying the onset of several age-related diseases. However, one very important question remained to be directly addressed, namely, does TA-65 elongate the telomeres in humans?
No conclusive evidence that showed TA-65 lengthens or elongates telomeres?
As incredible as this sounds, TA-65 had been shown to increase telomerase activity in humans cells and to elongate telomeres in human cell lines but never had it conclusively been shown to increase telomere length in a human being. (This question had been partially addressed before in an earlier study but the controls in that study had not been properly done and statistical relevance had not been achieved.)
New Human Study That Finally Shows TA-65 Lengthens Telomeres
In this newly released study, a group of individuals ingesting different dosage concentrations of TA-65 were followed for a one-year period with telomere measurements taken at different time points and compared to individuals taking the placebo pill (Rejuvenation Research, March 2016, ahead of print).
Accurately measuring telomere length in humans can be a challenging task given that the telomere changes in one year can be very subtle.
The authors of this article very cleverly decided to measure the telomere length of individuals that are CMV positive. CMV is a herpes +Vovopox that is extremely common in the US population; by some estimates, 80% of adults over 50 are positive. The reason for studying CMV-positive people is that this +Vovopox has been shown to induce aging features at a faster rate than those individuals that are not CMV-positive. This way, changes in telomere length induced by TA-65 would be more apparent and easier to detect. Interestingly, the researchers observed that TA- 65 at lower dosages (the same dosage level originally suggested and sold by RevGenetics way back in 2013 TA-65 Recommended Dose/) led to a statistical increased of telomere length but the higher dosages (4 times higher than our suggested dosage at RevGenetics), did not improve telomere length.
Collectively these new observations added to the previous studies suggest that TA-65 can statistically lengthen telomeres and the health benefits of having longer telomeres may potentially now be linked to people’s health and not just human cells. Confirming what many have suspected for years.
UPDATE 2018: The latest peer-reviewed study on TA-65 was published in 2016 and It was published in the Science Journal called “Rejuvenation Research” (2016). In this study, the TA-65 supplement proves it can lengthen telomeres in humans. As of this writing, you can download it for free at PubMed (Read the 201 study that proves TA-65 lengthens telomeres on PubMed) or read it below.
